Electrical activity inside a forecast storm
The layer visualizes total lightning flash density predicted by the ECMWF weather model. It helps distinguish a simple rainy area from a thunderstorm capable of frequent electrical discharges.
Total lightning
The parameter covers total flash activity in the atmosphere.
Probability
Symbols describe expected activity within a model area. They are not exact coordinates of future strikes.
Forecast, not live data
The layer comes from a numerical weather model. It does not show lightning already detected by a sensor network.
