Weather stations: see live wind
and confirm the forecast
How to read it:
How to make decisions based on weather station data:

1. The easiest - check the wind trend. When wind starts to rise or fall, the trend often follows this pattern. Use it to plan a few hours ahead.

2. Don't forget to check gusts. They can be much stronger than the average wind and completely change the session.

3. Check the AI wind forecast. You’ll see a 24-hour outlook from our Beta AI forecast. It is based on live data, forecasts, and terrain. Use it alongside with other forecasts.
How experts use it
  1. Check the wind right before heading out.
  2. See what the wind is like on a new spot - either a marina or an airport.
  3. Learn which forecast model works best for this spot.
  4. Do not trust the forecast completely :).

Live wind VS forecast
If you compare the forecast with the live wind for the last few hours, you would be more confident in your decisions.
Advanced: find the best weather model for your spot

Dig deeper: compare the forecast with the live wind for the last 10 days and see which weather models are the most accurate. You can do it easily on the COMPARE chart. Each colored line = a weather model's forecast.

Here's the ideal situation:
✅ The timing of peak winds is very close in the forecast and in live wind data.
✅ The wind speeds are quite close
If this is the case for all 10 days, use any weather forecasting model.

It's not usually like that. The forecast often:
  • Underestimates the wind
  • Overestimates the wind
  • Doesn't get the peak/minimum times right

This means:
  1. Check if any model is consistently closer to live wind. Trust it more next time.
  2. See if you can spot a pattern, for example: the wind speed is off, but the timing and trends are good, or the forecast always underestimates northern winds.
  3. Use these patterns next time you check this spot.
